AUYL SPORT: Table Tennis Now Available in Villages of Kazakhstan

The AUYL SPORT project continues to expand its horizons: now the program includes another sport – table tennis. This step became possible thanks to a memorandum of cooperation between the Halyk charity foundation, founded by Timur and Dinara Kulibayev, and the Table Tennis Federation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The agreement is aimed at popularizing table tennis in rural areas, attracting children to the sport and improving the qualifications of coaches and referees.
“Table tennis is a sport that requires speed, precision and strategic thinking. We strive to teach rural children the basics of this game and raise future champions,” said Daniyar Akhmetov, executive director of the Kazakhstan Table Tennis Federation.
Within the framework of AUYL SPORT, the parties agreed on methodological support, organization of competitions and other sports events in rural regions. The cooperation is also aimed at developing a culture of charity and popularizing mass sports.
“Development of sports in rural areas is one of the key tasks of our foundation. We are already implementing large-scale projects to develop mass sports in the regions. Adding table tennis to the AUYL SPORT program will open up new opportunities for children and teenagers,” emphasized Halyk Foundation Executive Director Galymbek Zhaksylykov.
Table tennis is one of the most accessible sports in the world. It does not require expensive equipment and can be organized even in small rural schools. In Kazakhstan, this sport is actively developing, and thanks to AUYL SPORT, children from rural areas will have a chance to reach a professional level.
AUYL SPORT – a platform for future champions
Launched in 2024, the AUYL SPORT project has become the largest sports initiative for rural children. It involves 12,000 young athletes from 200 settlements, and the final competitions were attended by 1,300 best participants from 17 regions. The program already includes boxing, wrestling, karate, basketball, volleyball and chess, and from 2025, table tennis will be added.
Since 2016, the Halyk Foundation has implemented more than 120 social projects aimed at developing education, healthcare and sports. AUYL SPORT is one of the systemic initiatives that gives children access to sports, shapes their character and gives new perspectives.
This project changes lives by making sports accessible to every child, regardless of where they live.
“AUYL SPORT is an investment of the Halyk Foundation in the future of Kazakhstan, where every child has a chance to realize their potential,” notes Galymbek Zhaksylykov.
