Timur Kulibayev’s Halyk Charitable Fund organised a celebration for elderly people in Almaty

In 1991, the UN General Assembly established the International Day of Older Persons. In honour of this date, on 1 October, the Halyk charitable foundation of Timur Kulibayev traditionally held a festive concert for the older generation.

The event took place at the Shanyraq Social Services Centre in Almaty. As the organisers noted, this day symbolises special respect and gratitude to people who have made an invaluable contribution to the country’s development, devoted their lives to raising generations and serving society.

Being here with you today is a great honour for us. This celebration is a testament to sincere love and deep gratitude for your work, for a life filled with kindness and compassion. May this evening remind you once again that you are our support, our spiritual strength and our source of inspiration, and may it fill your hearts with warmth.

The concert programme featured students from Miras International School, International School of Almaty, and the specialised Arystan Lyceum of the NNEF public foundation. The young performers treated the older generation to songs, kyuis, dance pieces and poetry. The dance Aqqu, the kyui Erke Sylqym, as well as the songs Zhan Dosym and Baqyt Degen created an atmosphere of joy and celebration.

‘The respect and kindness shown to us is a joy that warms the heart. To see that, in old age, there is a younger generation beside you that values and supports you — that is the greatest happiness. May Allah reward you, and may your work bring goodness,’ said one of the aksakals in gratitude.

Timur Kulibayev’s Halyk Charitable Fund supports the Shanyraq Centre every year. Last year, the institution received 305 sets of pillows and blankets, and this year — 80 specially made orthopaedic mattresses.

Halyk Charitable Fund’s press service emphasized that this initiative is part of large-scale efforts aimed at supporting those in need and improving the quality of life of the population. Since its establishment in 2016, the Fund has implemented more than 120 social projects and provided assistance amounting to over 85 billion tenge.
