SOS Children’s Villages Kazakhstan
Since 2020, to support children without parental care, the Halyk Charitable Fund has been partnering with SOS Children’s Villages Kazakhstan. Over this period, the fund has provided a total of 388.9 million tenge in assistance, covering the maintenance of the villages, the Asar Crisis Center, and statutory activities. This support included the purchase of two four-room apartments each in Almaty, Karaganda, and Astana to establish group Youth Homes modeled on family-style living.
In 2020, the Halyk Charitable Fund continued its tradition of supporting the SOS Children’s Villages Kazakhstan Foundation, helping provide care and stability for children without parental support.
In 2019, under a memorandum of cooperation between the State Institution “Orphanage No. 1 of Almaty,” the Corporate Fund “SOS Children’s Villages Kazakhstan,” the Public Fund “Nursultan Nazarbayev Education Fund,” and the Halyk Charitable Fund, two four-room apartments were purchased and donated in Almaty. This initiative was carried out jointly with JSC “Halyk Bank of Kazakhstan.” The apartments, totaling over 330 square meters and valued at more than 120 million tenge, underwent major renovations at no cost and were fully furnished with essential furniture, appliances, and food supplies before families moved in.
In 2020, the Halyk Charitable Fund also furnished and equipped four family-style children’s homes within the SOS Children’s Village, along with two integrated apartments for village graduates.
Additionally, the fund restored cabinet furniture in 10 family homes, with total charitable assistance amounting to 23.9 million tenge.
In 2021, to further support the healthy development and social integration of children without parental care, the Halyk Charitable Fund provided an additional 11.7 million tenge in aid to the SOS Children’s Villages Kazakhstan Foundation.
Looking ahead, in collaboration with the Nursultan Nazarbayev Education Foundation, the Halyk Charitable Fund plans to expand support for state-run children’s villages through:
- Centralized financing, including support for administrative operations
- Implementation of international best practices and methodologies to enhance the quality of care and improve living standards for children without adult guardianship
