Food Aid Campaigns

In 2021, the Halyk Charitable Fund launched a socially significant initiative to provide ongoing food assistance to low-income families, large families, and families raising children with special needs across all regions of Kazakhstan.

To help fellow citizens cope with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Fund—supported by its partners—distributed over 100,000 food packages, each weighing more than 50 kilograms, to families in need throughout the country. The total value of this aid exceeded 2 billion tenge.

Continuing its tradition of compassion, the Halyk Charitable Fund organized another large-scale campaign ahead of Kazakhstan’s Independence Day and the New Year. As a result, 20,000 families across Kazakhstan received food packages containing over 1 million kilograms of essential goods, valued at 520 million tenge. Each 50 kg package included rice, buckwheat, flour, pasta, vegetable oil, canned meat, sugar, tea, and a New Year’s candy set.

This systematic support targeted low-income households, large families, and families with children with special needs facing financial hardship. The campaign was powered by nearly 1,000 volunteers—mostly socially active youth—many of whom have supported the Fund’s initiatives in the past.

In July 2021, the Fund launched another charitable campaign, distributing food baskets to 20,000 families who had previously received assistance. Each 50 kg package contained essential food items, totaling over 1 million kilograms of aid, with a total value exceeding 500 million tenge. Distribution was coordinated with the help of regional akimats and carried out by volunteers.

On the eve of Nauryz 2021, the Halyk Charitable Fund launched yet another large-scale campaign to support families affected by the pandemic and quarantine measures. In collaboration with prominent Kazakhstani business leaders and organizations, the Fund assembled and distributed 38,665 food packages across 17 regions, totaling 999.4 million tenge in aid.

Supporters of this campaign included Kairat Boranbayev, Daniyar Abulgazin, Dias Suleimenov, Kenes Rakishev, the National Lottery “Satti Zhuldyz,” the AYALA Charitable Foundation, Eurasian Resources Group Holding, the Bulat Utemuratov Foundation, and the Kazakhmys Corporation.

Each package contained 50 kg of essential food items, totaling over 2 million kilograms of food. Volunteers across the country ensured timely delivery, using recipient lists provided by regional akimats. To better understand the needs of the population, surveys were conducted with over 20,000 families who received assistance.

In 2023, the Halyk Charitable Fund continued its mission by distributing 3,000 food packages to families in need in Zhanaozen and the Almaty region.

Through these efforts, the Halyk Charitable Fund continues to improve lives by helping families redirect their limited resources toward other urgent needs.
