Opening of the Renovated ‘Asar’ Crisis Center: Support from the Halyk Charitable Fund

The official reopening of the renovated Asar Crisis Center for women with children in difficult life situations took place in Almaty. This vital project, supported by the Halyk Charitable Fund—founded by Timur and Dinara Kulibayev—marks a significant step in providing protection and support to families at risk of separation.
Established in 2017 by SOS Children’s Village Almaty, the Asar Center has been a safe haven for women and children in need. In 2024, thanks to the Halyk Fund, the center underwent major renovations that significantly improved living conditions. It now accommodates up to six families, offering individual rooms, medical, legal, and psychological assistance, as well as support in employment and education.

“Asar”: Support and Care For Every Family
What makes Asar unique is its individualized approach. Each family is assigned a specialist who develops a tailored plan to help them overcome their crisis.
“Thanks to our small capacity, we can devote maximum attention to each family and respond quickly to their needs,”
— Gulzhan Asanova, National Director of SOS Children’s Villages Kazakhstan
She added that staff continue to support families even after they leave the program, helping ensure long-term stability.
Since its founding, the center has helped more than 80 women and 150 children stay together and rebuild their lives. Over 90% of women who completed the program have found employment, housing, and regained independence.

A Family’s Journey to Stability
Ainur (name changed), a mother of three, shared her story:
“We didn’t know where we’d sleep the next day. Learning about the center was a lifeline. Thanks to their support, I completed training and advanced professionally. The staff and the Halyk Foundation helped me regain confidence and build a future.”
