International Day of Older Persons in Almaty: The Halyk Foundation brought joy to the residents of the Shańyraq Center

On October 1, the International Day of Older Persons, the Halyk Charity Foundation held a festive event for residents of the Shanyrak Social Services Center in Almaty. This day, established by the UN in 1991, reminds us of the importance of respecting and supporting the older generation.
At the celebration, children from the International School “Miras”, the International School of Almaty and the Lyceum “Arystan” presented the audience with a warm concert performance. Special guests of the holiday were famous Kazakh artists Medeu Orynbayev and Sulushash Nurmagambetova, who touched the hearts of those gathered with their songs.
‘Today is truly a meaningful day. Respect for the older generation is the foundation of our society. As the saying goes, “In a country with many elders, many treasures are preserved.” We believe that events like this will inspire young people to show respect and care for their elders. The support of the Halyk Foundation is aimed at bringing joy and warmth to these people,’ emphasized Saginbek Shunkeev, Director of the Halyk Foundation.

A special gift for the residents of the Center were more than 300 sets of pillows and blankets purchased from organizations of disabled people and mothers with many children. Thus, the fund not only pleased the elderly, but also supported socially vulnerable groups of society.

This event is just part of the large-scale work of the Halyk Foundation aimed at supporting those in need throughout the country. For example, this year, for International Children’s Day, the foundation equipped the playrooms of the Scientific Center of Pediatrics and Pediatric Surgery with toys and also provided support to children involved in adaptive football.
Since 2016, Timur Kulibayev’s Halyk Private Foundation has implemented more than 120 social projects worth over 85 billion tenge. The foundation’s programs cover a wide range of areas – from helping large families to supporting cultural and educational initiatives.
Today, there are more than 3 million elderly people living in Kazakhstan. This holiday serves as a reminder of the need to take care of the older generation, improving their quality of life and giving them attention and love.
