Halyk Charitable Fund Launches Project for Rural Children Covering Six Sports

A major new initiative, #AUYLSPORT, has been launched in Kazakhstan to engage over 12,000 children and teenagers from rural areas in six sports: boxing, wrestling, karate, basketball, volleyball, and chess. The project is spearheaded by the Halyk Charitable Fund, founded by Timur Kulibayev and Dinara Kulibayeva, and was officially presented with the participation of Olympic medalists and a memorandum signed with KazAST.

“Many Olympic champions of Kazakhstan come from villages. We want to support not only football, but a wide range of sports. #AUYLSPORT will help build a strong sports culture and improve rural living standards,”
— Galymbek Zhaksylykov, Director of the Halyk Fund’s Almaty Branch
The project will be implemented through regional coordinators and includes tournaments for children aged 8–17, training camps, and advanced coaching seminars. Coaches will receive training in modern methods, refereeing, communication, and working with children with special needs.

Winners of regional competitions will receive sports gear and the opportunity to compete nationally and internationally. The initiative also promotes discipline, teamwork, and healthy lifestyles—key values for youth development.

Since its founding in 2016, the Halyk Fund has implemented over 120 social projects totaling 85 billion tenge, including 500 million tenge specifically for rural sports development.
