AUYL SPORT: Table Tennis Now Available in Villages of Kazakhstan

The AUYL SPORT project continues to expand its reach—now adding table tennis to its growing list of sports. This new development was made possible through a memorandum of cooperation between the Halyk Charitable Fund, founded by Timur Kulibayev and Dinara Kulibayeva, and the Table Tennis Federation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The agreement aims to popularize table tennis in rural areas, engage children in the sport, and improve the qualifications of coaches and referees.
Table tennis is a sport that requires speed, precision, and strategic thinking. We aim to teach rural children the fundamentals of the game and raise future champions,” said Daniyar Akhmetov, Executive Director of the Kazakhstan Table Tennis Federation.
As part of AUYL SPORT, the partnership includes methodological support, the organization of competitions, and other sports events in rural regions. The collaboration also promotes a culture of philanthropy and the development of mass sports.
Developing sports in rural areas is one of our foundation’s key priorities. We’re already implementing large-scale projects to promote mass sports in the regions. Adding table tennis to the AUYL SPORT program opens new opportunities for children and teens,” emphasized Galymbek Zhaksylykov, Executive Director of the Halyk Charitable Fund.
Table tennis is one of the most accessible sports in the world. It requires minimal equipment and can be played even in small rural schools. In Kazakhstan, the sport is gaining momentum, and thanks to AUYL SPORT, children from villages now have a chance to reach the professional level.
AUYL SPORT – A Platform For Future Champions
Launched in 2024, AUYL SPORT has become the largest national sports initiative for rural youth. It has already involved 12,000 young athletes from 200 settlements, with 1,300 finalists from 17 regions competing in the national championship.
The program currently includes boxing, wrestling, karate, basketball, volleyball, and chess. Starting in 2025, table tennis will officially be added to the lineup.
Since 2016, the Halyk Charitable Fund has implemented more than 120 social projects in education, healthcare, and sports. AUYL SPORT is one of its flagship initiatives—providing children with access to sports, building character, and opening new horizons.
This project changes lives by making sports accessible to every child, no matter where they live. AUYL SPORT is an investment by the Halyk Charitable Fund in the future of Kazakhstan, where every child has a chance to realize their potential,” said Galymbek Zhaksylykov.
