10,000 schoolchildren have been trained in the basics of entrepreneurship under the Halyk Foundation’s “Tälimger” project

The challenges of the global world dictate that our country should become an entrepreneurial community, the core of whose development is innovation. As the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted: “We need a new wave of entrepreneurs. The subject “Fundamentals of Entrepreneurship” should be studied at all levels of education – from schools to universities.”
The subject “Fundamentals of Entrepreneurship and Business” (FEB) has been taught in grades 10-11 of schools and colleges since 2018. In order to qualitatively fill the entrepreneurship training program, the Khalyk Charity Foundation initiated the creation of the “Talimger” project, which involves the authors of the FEB program and textbook.
One of the main objectives of the project is to provide methodological support to teachers in teaching entrepreneurship and to develop entrepreneurial thinking in students through strengthening the interdisciplinary approach in the educational process and developing global competencies in the younger generation.

According to the head of the Talimger project, Aigul Akhmetova, the project’s methodologists developed a training program for teachers and tested it in the summer of 2023. This program was later used for the cascade method of teaching teachers, students and their parents.

This year, the “Tälimger” project continues its training activities across various platforms in Kazakhstan, including: the 1st National Eco Art Festival Aiala in Astana (June 2024), the EL Umity Awards business camp (June 2024), and a training course titled “Progressive Strategies for Teaching Entrepreneurship and Business in Educational Institutions” for school and college principals and teachers. In total, over 10,000 people have been trained.
The challenges of today have prompted the authors of the Fundamentals of Entrepreneurship and Business (ОПиБ) program and textbook to expand the educational content on financial literacy, strengthen the case study component with examples from local businesses, and update sections with gamification elements. As a result, methodological guidelines have been developed for lesson-by-lesson planning of the ОПиБ course for grades 10–11, as well as for developing entrepreneurship skills through extracurricular activities. To ensure easy access and user convenience, the educational materials are planned to be made available in the Halyk mobile banking app, under the “Kündelik” section on the main page.
Other practical steps in the implementation of the Talimger project will be the opening of entrepreneurship classes this year in schools in Aktobe, Karaganda, Semey, Astana, Almaty, Ekibastuz, Kentau and the North Kazakhstan region.
In addition, the “Talimger” project has initiated the development of a National Concept for the Development of Entrepreneurial Education in the Republic of Kazakhstan, which will elevate this area to a state level, covering all stages of education. Leading universities in the country—such as AlmaU, KBTU, and UIB—along with institutions of preschool, general secondary, and vocational education, as well as entrepreneurial associations, have been engaged in drafting this concept.
The Halyk Foundation plans to develop the Talimger project and expand its geography. In the future, it is planned to cover even more regions and attract even more young people to training. The Talimger project is a shining example of purposeful work and aspiration to improve the quality of entrepreneurial education.
